Narasimha Reddy

A. L. Narasimha Reddy received his B.Tech. degree in electronics and electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, in 1985 and the M.S. and Ph.D degrees in computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1987 and 1990, respectively.

Reddy currently is a professor in the department. He was a research staff member at IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose from 1990-1995. Reddy's research interests are in networks, I/O systems, multimedia and computer architecture. Currently he is leading projects on network protocols and security and active storage sytems. While at IBM, he designed routing chips, hierarchical storage management systems and participated in the design of video servers and disk arrays.

Reddy is a member of ACM, is a senior member of the IEEE Computer Society and has received an NSF CAREER award in 1996. One of his papers has been cited as 'one of the most influential' at the ACM Multimedia Conference. He also received an Outstanding Professor Award at Texas A&M in 1997-98 and 2003-04 and an Association of Former Students Teaching Award in 2005.
